Next Concert:Saturday 21st April 2012 7.30pmG F Handel. Jephtha (Semi-staged performance)
2011-2012 Concert Season2011 - 2012 sees St Cecilia Chorus celebrate its 90th anniversary with a feast of wonderful music starting with Bach's Christmas Oratorio on 26th November 2011 accompanied by The Little Baroque Company, a leading period instrument orchestra. Following our Christmas concert of traditional seasonal music and following on from the hugely successful semi-staged performance of Handel's Sampson last season, we will be returning again to Epsom School in April 2012 for a performance of Handel's last oratorio Jephtha. Again this will be a semi-staged performance of this highly dramatic work and it promises to be a memorable concert. In early June the choir will travel to Paris as part of the 90th anniversary celebrations where we look forward to performing in many prestigious venues. The final performance of our 90th year will be in June 2012, back at St Andrew's Church in Cheam where we will celebrate HM The Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the 200th anniversary of the first performance of William Crotch's Palestine in a concert that will include excerpts from Palestine and a host of English music by Purcell, Handel, Parry, Vaughan Williams, Britten and Paul Mealor. It promises to be an exciting year of music making. St Cecilia News:In June 2012 St Cecilia Chorus will be travelling to Paris for a series of concerts around the city at some wonderful venues. More information will follow in due course. Sopranos wanted!St Cecilia Chorus welcomes new singers, and this year we especially would like to hear from Sopranos. Whatever your voice, please contact our Secretary, Bery Radford secretary@stceciliachorus.org.uk if you would like to come along to a rehearsal or two to try us out.
